The Day Supergirl Became an Amazon!

Episode 1

It was every girl's dream...a free vacation in the South Pacific...sunshine...swaying palms...gleaming lagoons! That's how Linda (Supergirl) Danvers and her two friends felt about their trip-till a rude awakening shattered their dream and they found themselves doing back-breaking labor for a cruel Amazon Queen! It all happened The Day Supergirl Became an Amazon!

At Stanhope College, as the summer vacation began, three girls won a special scholarship from the Dean.

"Linda Danvers, Millie Cole, and Sue Johnston," stated the Dean. "This Aquarium Grant will send you to the South Pacific for a week, to gather specimens for out school aquarium."
Millie smiled as she took the official papers from the Dean. "That's cool, girls," she said. "A free trip and fun in the sun!"

Later, after flying to Hawaii, the trio was speeding out to sea in an ultra-modern hovercraft vehicle.

"Isn't this the greatest, girls," asked Sue, her hair flying in the tropical wind generated by their incredible speed. "Our air-cushion hovercraft can do 300 miles per hour skimming over the waves!"

Linda had to yell just to be heard over the roar of the wind. "We can reach our 'fishing grounds' overnight if we take turns driving and sleeping."

But that very night, as Linda was catching her forty winks, a terrible storm struck. As the waves began to mount higher and higher, the hovercraft continued to dip lower into the troughs and was in danger of getting swamped by the skyscraper-size waves.

Then, just when all seemed helpless, Linda awoke and made a fast switcheroo into...Supergirl! Unnoticed by the other girls, Supergirl easily lifted the great hovercraft up and over the waves, and carried it and its terrified crew out of the storm's path. Then, safely out of harm's way, she set the hovercraft down on a secluded sandy beach and returned to her cabin.

At dawn, after Linda rejoined her companions, they discussed their interesting circumstances.

"Thank heaven we survived that 'rock-n-roll' dance at sea," exclaimed Sue.

"Hmmm..." began Millie. "I don't know what island this is, but we may as well collect marine specimens here as anywhere. I wonder if it's inhabited?"

But just as the words left Millie's lips, a band of women, each equally strong, fierce, and beautiful, leapt from the foliage at the edge of the beach. Commanded by their stern leader, they quickly overturned the hovercraft and seized our three young heroines.

"Sufferin' catfish," exclaimed Millie. "These kooks are all women!" And then, with a flash of understanding, "They must be an Amazon Tribe!"
